The Incongruity Theory... FREUD

One of the ideas expressed by Sigmund Freud in his 1905 Jokes and Their Relation to the Unconscious was that Scatological humor is incongruous in that it "unmasks" people as it reminds them of their animal nature. Freud viewed the jokes that people told as a window to their minds.
